Back the Kendal BID, Farron urges local businesses

WESTMORLAND MP Tim Farron has urged businesses to vote yes in the Kendal BID.
Postal voting is currently under way on the scheme, which would come in from April next year.
It is aimed at generating a massive cash pot to be spent on promoting Kendal to shoppers.
In a letter to local businesses, Mr Farron said: "Many town centres in the UK have experienced tough trading times in recent years and Kendal is no exception.
"That’s why I support a new initiative – the creation of a Business Improvement District – that would give local businesses a greater say in how the town centre is managed.
"The aim of the BID is to drive footfall and improve Kendal's individuality and the appearance of the high street. It will help bring more businesses, jobs and vitality to the town."
"I think it will succeed because the ideas come from you, the business community, and I am confident that the creation of a pot of money that is controlled by local businesses will have a positive impact on Kendal's town centre."
For the BID to come in over 50 per cent of the aggregate rateable value of those voting must be for it. For more information go to www.kendalbid.co.uk or contact firstname.lastname@example.org
