SHIVERING swimmers will be brrr....aving the elements today to take the plunge in Windermere.
They will be taking part in the lake’s first Boxing Day Dip, set against the backdrop of the UK’s Adventure Capital.
Cumbria’s first official festive open water swim will to take place at Brockhole, The Lake District National Park Visitor Centre, Windermere, at 11am.
It is a mass start and splash and everyone is invited to participate. But organisers are warning the water temperature is expected to be minus five degrees Centigrade.
If the water is frozen, organisers say that the ice will be smashed.
Registration will open at 10am, although you can register in advance at chillswim.com. It costs £6 to dip and those taking part are welcome to raise money for their chosen charity.
