A HORSE rider was airlifted to hospital on Saturday after falling from her mount, sustaining leg and pelvic injuries.

The 40-year-old, from Torpenhow near Wigton, was hacking near Coniston when the incident occurred at around 1pm. She was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken on a nine-minute flight to Furness General Hospital by a helicopter from the Great North Air Ambulance.

Her condition was later said to be stable.
