The first defibrillator equipment to be bought for a local community through a fund set up by Cumbria County Council’s chairman has been installed at a Furness pub.

Villagers in Bardsea worked together to raise £1,000 to buy the lifesaving equipment as part of Coun Alan Barry’s 2013-14 fund-raising appeal.

It was officially unveiled at The Ship Inn on Main Street and is now operational and ready to be used in the event of an emergency.

“I would like to congratulate the residents of Bardsea for their fund-raising efforts and to thank them for taking part in the appeal,” said Coun Barry.
