THE search is on to find the unsung heroes who look after the most iconic rural landscapes in the Lake District and Dales.

Gamekeeper nominations are being sought for the CLA Long Service Awards, which will be presented at the CLA Game Fair at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, in July.

The awards will go to gamekeepers who have clocked up at least 40 years’ service on no more than five estates.

CLA North regional director Dorothy Fairburn said: “Gamekeepers are part of the fabric of rural life, but the job they do and the contribution they make to the rich diversity of the British countryside is often overlooked.”

Nominations must be made by employers. Further details and how to nominate an individual can be obtained from Bex Welti on: 0207 2019522, or by email at
