A WINDFARM set to be built in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has been scrapped.
The Open Spaces Society is celebrating after it campaigned against the scheme at Claughton Moor, near Hornby, on the grounds it would have an ‘adverse effect’ on the countryside.
Applicant Community Windpower, blamed the government for ‘constantly shifting its position on UK renewables’ .
But Kate Ashbrook, general secretary of the Open Spaces Society, said she was delighted the proposal has been abandoned.
