SOUTH Lakeland District Council is to broaden its recycling scheme to include plastic and cardboard collections.
Coun Susan Sanderson told the Cabinet the authority was keen to ‘extend the range’ of materials it collected.
The environment and people portfolio holder said the potential options as well as financial forecasts for the cost of extending the scheme would be looked at in a report.
“These are developments very much welcomed by residents,” said Coun Sanderson.
The council collects general waste, garden waste, paper and glass from the kerbside and recycling banks. It makes around four million collections a year.
