THIS is a stunning poster advertising tourism and rail travel to Grange-Over-Sands in circa 1929.

The poster by Raphael Roussel comes courtesy of local solictor Richard Roberts, co-owner of Gedye & Son, which has offices in London and Grange-Over-Sands.

Mr Roberts bought the large lithograph at Christies in October. The LMS refers to London, Midland and Scottish railway company

Susannah Bleakley, of the Morecambe Bay Partnership, said it was a 'really gorgeous print' and 'w onderful to bring it home to Grange.

She said: "It raises so many fascinating questions: who was Raphael Roussel? The name sounds French to me but I couldn't find out much about him from my quick search.

"How many more prints are there and does the original survive?"

She added: "I've tried to do a bit of research into the image but found very little. I also didn't find much information about the artist. The French name fascinates me and there are other rail posters by him in Blackpool, Edinburgh and North Wales."
