Residents, community groups and businesses can now find out more about council services in their area with the click of a mouse.

Cumbria County Council has launched a new community focused section on its website called ‘your local area’ to highlight the council’s work in local communities.

A range of information including county council support for local organisations, grant applications and details on community meetings can be found by visiting www.cumbria.gov.uk/yourlocalarea

There is also a new ‘have your say’ page (www.cumbriacc.gov.uk/haveyoursay) on the council’s website which provides a single place for people to see what consultations are taking place, view planning applications, find contact details for their councillor and much more.

In addition to the new ‘your local area’ and ‘have your say’ functions, residents are also able to find out details for services in their local areas such as doctors, dentists, schools and libraries via the ‘find my nearest’ tool on the county council website.

Councillor Patricia Bell, Cumbria County Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “These new sections on the council’s website make it easier than ever for people to find out about council services and access useful information relevant to their communities.

“Whether it’s details on applying for grant funding for a community group or tracking down the whereabouts of your local credit union, it’s all now available online.
