THE University of Cumbria is holding a public exhibition to look at possible options for new student accommodation at Ambleside.

The university is keen to gather feedback and understand the thoughts of its staff, students and the local community.

The event will allow people to view different options for the creation of the student accommodation, make comments and share ideas towards this first stage of the project.

Representatives of the university will also be present to answer questions.

The event will be held at the Beehive building, Ambleside on the following dates:

• Friday February 21: 12pm - 7pm
• Saturday February 22: 9am - 1pm

University of Cumbria Chief Operating Officer Janet Whitworth said: "This event is part of an ongoing consultation process for the redevelopment of our Ambleside campus and we would be grateful to hear the views of all our stakeholders.

"We have continued to listen to our staff and stakeholders throughout the redevelopment process, and adjusted plans to incorporate feedback received from all other consultation exercises.

"We will do the same for the student accommodation consultation as understanding ongoing views, particularly of those living in the local area, is extremely important to us to ensure any future development has positive outcomes for both community and our students."

The university has encouraged people to make comments by viewing the exhibition in person.

After the workshop event, the exhibition boards will be moved to the local Ambleside library where people can continue to provide feedback.

Anyone unable to attend in person may view the material online at www.cumbria.ac.uk/ambleside from Friday February 21.

The online consultation is open from the same day for four weeks and all comments must be returned by midnight Saturday March 22.

Feedback can also be sent by post by downloading the feedback form from the website and sending to Maria White, Deloitte LLP, 1 City Square, Leeds, LS1 2AL by Friday March 21.
