A MAN has been airlifted to hospital after collapsing while climbing Helvellyn.
Members of Keswick Mountain Rescue team were called to Brown Cove Craggs at 10am this morning.
The man, from Carlisle and in his 60s, is said to be in a serious condition.
Mountain rescuers and a paramedic from the North West Ambulance Service made an initial assessment before transporting the walker to the Great North Air Ambulance's Pride of Cumbria helicopter.
The aircrew doctor and paramedic further assessed the patient before flying him to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.
