A FORMER Kendal man dubbed the town’s ‘Elvis’ has died suddenly aged 68.
Michael Simpson was the lead singer of Gulliver and his Travellers, a band which played in the Kendal area and was resident at The Floral Hall, Morecambe, in the 1960s and early 1970s.
They also provided backing to well-known groups such as Herman’s Hermits, Freddie and the Dreamers and Manfred Mann.
Mr Simpson, who died in Blackpool on February 8, was a much-loved husband to Janey and dad to Michael, John and Samantha.
A funeral service will be held at Parkside Road cemetery chapel tomorrow (February 21) at 2pm.
