ONE thousand cyclists took to the streets for a gruelling challenge - just short of 60 miles.
Cycling enthusiasts participated in the second Eden Valley Epic Sportive event which started at Penrith Leisure Centre.
From there they headed south to Orton, stopping for refreshments in Appleby, the half way point.
The circular route then brought the bikers back up to Penrith via Crosby Ravensworth.
Riders took between three and seven hours to complete the course on Sunday (March 2).
