THREE of the Labour Party candidates seeking to win election to the European Parliament this May are heading to Kendal this weekend.

Theresa Griffin, Julie Ward and Angeliki Stogia, are bidding to represent the North West region in Brussels for the next five years.

Eight MEPs are elected to represent the North West region, with the vote taking place on Thursday May 22.

The trio will be at The Birdcage this Saturday (March 15) from 10am until 12pm along with local party activists.

Westmorland and Lonsdale Labour Party officials said the trio will be meeting voters and talking about the upcoming campaign.

The North West Regional Returning Officer's website - http://www.northwestvotes.gov.uk/nwv/info/9/about_the_election, also has information about the election.

The count for the election will be held on Sunday May 25 due to the fact that polls will not be closing in the rest of Europe until 9pm on that day.
