Kendal church set to echo with song
6:00pm Sunday 16th March 2014 in News
KENDAL Millennium Youth Choir is back on stage on Saturday, March 22, sharing the bill with The King’s Men from King’s College, Cambridge.
The outstanding Kendal ensemble opens the Byrd, Broadway and The Beach Boys show at St George's Church, Kendal, at 7pm followed by The King’s Men – the a capella close harmony group formerly known as Collegium Regale, formed from the choral scholars of the Choir of King’s College.
The Cambridge choir is best known for the broadcast of the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on radio each Christmas, and its companion programme, Carols from King’s, on BBC television.
However, The King’s Men, functions separately from the main choir, and is run entirely by the members of the group.
It performs regularly around the UK, and has performed as far afield as North America, Australia and Hong Kong. Plans for the coming year include making a CD of modern pop and jazz songs, which will be issued on the King’s College label.
Additionally, the group will perform a number of concerts in the USA, followed by a tour of Britain in July.
Tickets are available from Made in Cumbria, 25 Stramongate, Kendal, on 01539-735891.
