TOPSIE the Bedlington Terrier has climbed all 214 Wainwrights – and she is only five years old.

Don and Pam Morris’s four-legged friend was taken on her first walk up Raven Crag on Christmas Day 2008 after being born in August.

Mr Morris, from Ings, said: “We always go out to Raven Crag on Christmas Day so we just took Topsie with us.

“I’ve been obsessed with doing the Wainwrights for a long time, and I’ve done them more than once.”

Last week Topsie scaled her final Wainwright – Castle Crag in the Borrowdale Valley near Keswick – with the retired couple.

Mr Morris said the most challenging climb for Topsie was Scafell Pike - England’s highest mountain.

“She enjoys them and never complains but the first time she did Scafell Pike, towards the top she was most unhappy and when it rained she went into a mini cave and retracted into the feotal position,” he said.

Topsie was recently found to be wheat intolerant which has led the couple to source a new hill-top snack.

“Now we go to a shop in Kendal and buy dried fish skins to take with us,” said Mr Morris.
