COMPETITORS flexed their muscles at the ninth annual English Lakeland Classic Bodybuilding Championships.
More than 350 people watched as 30 highly-honed athletes battled for supremacy at Ulverston’s Coronation Hall last Sunday.
Competitors are graded on size, muscle shape, and all- round physique across several different categories, including under-18s, under-21s, over-40s, ladies and novices.
The overall male winner was Nick Storrs, of Stockport, with Verity Royal, of Leeds, victorious in the ladies’ section.
Organiser Jo Walker, 41, of Broughton-in-Furness, won Mr Cumbria in 1997, 1998 and 1999, before going on to win several international titles.
He said: “I love the sport, so I try to put on a competition that gives local bodybuilders a chance to have the opportunities I’ve had. It’s a fantastic venue at Ulverston and every competitor spoke about how good the crowd was.”
