A GROUP of 34 visitors from Kendal’s twin town of Rinteln will be staying in the town this weekend.

The visitors are part of a German organisation called Landfrauen which is similar to the English Women’s Institute.

The group has a special interest in people who live and work in rural areas and are visiting the Kendal area from tomorrow until Monday to find out more about local farming and rural communities.

During their stay the visitors will meet Ruth Rigg, chairman of the Cumbria and Westmorland Federation of Women’s Institutes, for an exchange of ideas over coffee.

Kendal-Rinteln Twinning Association chairman Philip Ball said: “It’s a great pleasure to welcome a new twinning group to our area with interests in local agriculture and I hope that the contacts made during this visit will continue to grow in the future.”
