CHILDREN, parents, staff and governors at Storth CE School celebrated the opening of their new nursery.

The whole school dressed as pirates or princesses and took part in treasure hunt.

Parents and residents from the village were joined by Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron.

New headteacher Simon Brabant thanked staff who worked hard over the past few months to move the school forward and enable the offer of nursery provision.

The pupils have taken it all in their stride and have already welcomed five new pre-school children into their school. This is an exciting opportunity for the growth and development of the school for the next generation,” said Mr Brabant.

He also expressed his thanks to the county council for all of their support and to the parents for backing the new nursery.

“Hopefully, this will ensure the future of our small village school by allowing every child in the village the opportunity of attending their local primary school and cementing us in the heart of village life,” added Mr Brabant.
