A MAN from Kendal has been sent to a psychiatric hospital to have his mental condition assessed before he is sentenced for a string of criminal offences.
Ryan Goulding, 26, of Jenkin Rise, was at Carlisle Crown Court on Friday, expecting to be sentenced for burglary and a spate of petty crimes in the Sandgate and Castle Green Close areas last October.
But the hearing was adjourned until May 30 after defence barrister Greg Hoare said that two psychiatrists who had examined Goulding had concluded that he was suffering from a mental illness which needed treatment in a hospital.
