THOUSANDS of pounds of jewellery has been stolen from a house in Coniston.

The items, valued at more than £2,500, were taken during the afternoon of May 14 from premises in the Haws Bank area.

“Items of jewellery which are of a sentimental value to the owners were stolen,” said a spokesman for Cumbria Police.

“Home owners are reminded to prevent their home being a target for thieves by locking doors and windows before going out and remove keys from locks and keep out of reach of windows and doors.”

Police are now trying to trace two males, aged between 18 and 30, who were seen in the area earlier in the day.

They were wearing grey tracksuit tops and pants.

“Officers are keen to speak to these males for any information that they may be able to provide,” added the spokesman.

Anyone with information should contact PC Paul Burke at Windermere Police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
