BURNESIDE Cricket Club has taken delivery of a new Bola ball trainer to be used to train juniors in batting and fielding skills.

It is able to produce a precise delivery time and time again, which frees up the coach to stand back, observe or video analyse the youngsters while they perfect the shot or skill they are trying to learn.

Keith Ducket, Burneside Cricket Club’s junior co-ordinator, said he was delighted with the new machine and was expecting it to be of great benefit to the club in the future. He said: “We are hoping this will help us to go on and produce more children to play cricket at a higher standard.”

The ball trainer cost £1,800 and was kindly paid for with grants/donations of £700 from Cumbria County Council's community grants team, £400 from Burneside Parish Council and £400 from The Anglers Inn Trust.
