A KEEN amateur photo-grapher has snapped up a weekend break at a Lakes hotel with an ‘impressive’ Lake District photo.
Mick Gardner, from Hoghton, near Preston, won an online contest run by Choice Hotels and English Tourism week with this photo of Ullswater.
Mr Gardner said: “Most days I go for a walk and if I see something I like I take a photo – nothing is planned or organised, it’s just about luck for me.”
The competition attracted entries via Facebook and Instagram from people keen to show their favourite place in the Lake District.
Photographer Steve Barber, formerly chief photographer at The Westmorland Gazette, who judged the contest, said: “This image demonstrates how beautiful the Lake District landscape can be even without a chocolate box blue sky.”
