A much-loved cat has been snatched from outside an Ulverston family's home, leaving its owner's young children distraught.

Miaow, a tabby cat, was outside the front of the house when two callous thieves in a pick up truck grabbed her and bundled her into their vehicle.

The cat's owner, Helen Bennett, helplessly watched events unfold from her bedroom window in Lund Terrace.

Helen, who has three children ages 12, nine and two, said: "The kids miss the cat and we just want it returned.

"It's horrible not knowing what's happened to her.

"Even if they come forward and tell us where they dumped her, even if they've done something to her I'd rather know."

The incident happened at 10.30pm on Thursday, June 17.

Miaow has black, white and ginger markings.

Whilst Police believe this is an isolated incident they are advising pet owners to remain vigilant.

Anybody with any information should call Cumbria Police by dialing 101.
