TWO fresh tours of Coniston and Ullswater have been created to take visitors off the well-trod tourist tracks.

The new tours have been created by Cumbia Tourist Guides, which is the Association of Blue Badge Tourist Guides in Cumbria.

It says the tours aimed to 'uncover the wealth of heritage, culture, local industry and wildlife in different parts of the Lake District'.

The tours showcase the 'hidden delights' of the Coniston area and the Ullswater valley.

MORE TOP STORIES:

They consist of a series of walking tours and one cycle tour. They range from a two hour to a six and a half hour walk, and a four and a half hour cycle ride.

All are either easy or moderate and are suitable for individuals, families and groups, said those behind the tours.

Two of the tours involve a cruise - one on Coniston Water, “Showcase the world of Swallows & Amazons” and the other on Ullswater, “Secret Valleys”.

The tours are led by qualified Blue Badge Guides who will ensure that every one provides an opportunity for visitors to delve under the surface, said Cumbria Tourism.

Each tour must be pre-booked and there are a variety of ways this can be done. Both sets of tours can be directly booked via Cumbria Tourism’s website: www.golakes.co.uk/shop.

The Uniquely Coniston tours can also be booked through Coniston Tourist Information Centre on 015394 41533, and the Uniquely Ullswater tours can be booked by phone on 07879 080 444 or by email to enquiries@cumbriatouristguides.org.
