A SOUTH Lakes student has taken recycling to another level by creating a sculpture from 200 glass bottles.

Kathryn Booth, 22, from Kendal, is studying fine art at the University of Central Lancashire and as part of her final degree project spent six months turning 200 green bottles into a piece with the ‘characteristics of a leaf’.

She used glass during a first year project when she had to create a chandelier.

“I’ve been working with glass for three years but I’d not used it before coming to UCLan,” she said.

“Glass is a really nice material to use but it’s very labour intensive.”
