THE Wainwright Society has published its calendar for 2015 featuring beautiful photographs of the Lake District taken by its members.
There are also line drawings and quotations from the works of the revered walking guides author and illustrator, Alfred Wainwright.
MORE TOP STORIES:
Society secretary Derek Cockell said the calendar has completely sold out in the last five years raising thousands for charities.
All profits this time are going to the Ambleside-based Brathay Exploration Group Trust.
It will fund a two-year programme of ‘Taster Weekends’ to enable children from disadvantaged backgrounds to experience what Wainwright described when he first regarded the view of the Lakeland mountains as ‘a moment of magic’.
Mr Cockell said it is the society’s hope that through the activities, more youngsters will be encouraged to climb and walk on Lakeland’s fells and experience 'the joy and wonder' that Wainwright experienced when he was a young man exploring the mountains for the very first time.
The calendar is priced at £10 incl p&p.
It can be purchased from the Society website using PayPal http://www.wainwright.org.uk/calendar/index.html
