A CLIMBER was airlifted to hospital after falling 50ft in Trowbarrow Quarry, Silverdale.
The 27-year-old, from the Lake District, fell from a route on Sunday and hit the ground after three pieces of protection came out.
Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team were called out by Lancashire Police at around 5.40pm.
The Great North Air Ambulance also flew to the scene.

Team Leader Kevin Camplin said: “Two doctors were there when we arrived and we were required to package him up.
“We used a casualty bag and vacuum mattress to secure him and loaded him onto the Bell stretcher
“We then used a rope system to evacuate him down over the rocky area.
“When we got the initial callout it was believed he may have had spinal injuries, but remarkably he was just battered and bruised.”
