THE NatWest bank in Shap, which opens for four hours a week, is to close on November 26 after a 30 per cent drop in transactions since 2010.
The bank plans to extend its new mobile branch route to the village, and has made an agreement with the village post office for customers to withdraw cash and check balances free of charge.
