A LUNESDALE gardening show has been hailed a success after organisers branded the size and quality of entries ‘spectacular’.
The Kirkby Lonsdale Gardening Association Show, held at the town’s Lunesdale Hall on Saturday, attracted a continuous stream of visitors throughout the day, with bumper numbers of flowers, vegetables and home industries and handicrafts on display.
“This year the size and quality of the vegetables and flowers, and the amount of home industries and handicrafts were spectacular,” said show secretary Jacky Barnicoat-Hood.
“Once again, we’ve had an increase in new members, bringing their own inspiring energy.
“The old guard shared their tips and the not-so-old listened in, which bodes well for next time.”
Several prizes were won by Sarah Cutter and Scott Gardiner, for best white onions, best white potatoes, for the most points across all vegetable classes and for best horticultural exhibit in the show.
Another winner who cleaned up was Anne Huntington, who won best rose and best bowl of cut flowers.
