DRIVERS using the M6 through Cumbria are being advised that routine repairs will result in lane one and hard shoulder closures over the next few weeks.

The £400,000 project will focus on sections of the hard shoulder between junction 36 of the motorway at Kirkby Lonsdale and junction 38 at Tebay.

As well as hard shoulder closures lane 1 closures will be in place - around the clock north of junction 36 and between 8pm and 6am overnight south of it.

Highways Agency project sponsor Peter Gee said: ''These are routine wear and tear repairs.  They should have little impact on drivers' journeys but we do appreciate that people like to know what work is going on when the hard shoulder or lanes are closed.”
