A TRAINING course designed to improve the way organisations involve young people in decision making is to be launched this month.

South Lakeland District Council has commissioned Young Cumbria to run the course, primarily for its elected members. It will focus on involving young people more closely in local initiatives and the running of services.

The course, entitled ‘Less talk more action’, is for decision makers such as community group committee members and local councillors, as well as anyone who works face-to-face with young people.

Ellie Taylor, Partnerships and Funding Officer at SLDC, said: “Young Cumbria has been successfully delivering training to those who work with local young people for many years. The council is keen to utilise their expertise and develop more opportunities for our councillors and staff to make a difference to the lives of young people."

The course takes place on Wednesday October 15 2014 from10am to 4pm in Kendal. For more information visit www.youngcumbria.org.uk/ Booking forms are also available by contacting Ruth Hughes on 01539 536 032 or ruthhughes@youngcumbria.org.uk
