SOUTH Lakes Safari Zoo in Dalton has confirmed a previously believed “missing” monkey has been found on the site.
The Capuchin monkey was believed to be the second to go missing on Monday following the escape of the first last weekend.
In a statement made today (October 25) on Facebook the animal park stated: “We can confirm this morning that one of them never ever left the site and has been on site all of the time as we found the "little monkey" trapped in one of our quarantine units alive and well.”
And while the second monkey has been found on site, the other remains missing with many sightings around Dalton.
The Facebook statement said: “The other one has never been more than a few hundred meters from the zoo at our neighbours farm and is entertaining the animals and owners but eluding capture!”
They added: “It poses no danger to anyone as it is a quiet little monkey just a little scared and wants to be home.”
