AN EVENING art class is set to launch this month for adults who want to learn to draw and paint in South Lakeland.

Kendal’s newest art hub, The Factory, off Aynam Road, has developed a new course for people who want to pick up practical art techniques in a relaxed classroom setting.

The first ten weeks of the Monday night evening class begins at 6pm, on November 17 and will be taught by Kendal fine artist Helen Perkins.

Each class, which lasts for two hours, will include techniques for drawing, an introduction to portraits, and life drawing, and a taste of oil painting.

Helen said: “This should be a great evening for anyone who enjoys being creative and wants a motivating space to rekindle their love of art.

“We will be looking at ways to draw and paint that anyone can use – so you don’t have to be Rembrandt. In fact, it’s okay if you haven’t drawn a thing since school.

“We will do a whole mixture of different work, and hopefully people will get a chance to try new ideas and pick up new ways of seeing things.

“We have already several people sign up, and some are beginners and some are more advanced, so it’s going to be a really interesting group. I hope we’ll be able to create some great work.”

The course will break over Christmas and resume in January. For course dates and times, see The Factory Facebook page. Each evening costs £7.
