A CUMBRIAN man has raised thousands for a cancer charity after successfully leading a team of volunteers on a long distance walk from Cockermouth to Kendal.
Andy Whittaker took on the challenge after his close friend Robin Battersby was recently diagnosed with inoperable bile duct cancer.
Andy battled the elements to raise more than £4,400 for Macmillan cancer support, accompanied by up to twenty friends and family at stages on the way.
Robin works for Cumbria County Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) and works closely with charities throughout Barrow and South Lakeland, helping them with fundraising, volunteer recruitment, training and business development.
