Kendal is mourning the loss of a "much loved" member of the community.

Kelly Peterson, 37, passed away at her home on Castle Dale on Wednesday, December 24.

She worked as a cleaner at the Dun Horse, the Westmorland Gazette offices and the Globe Inn, on Market Place, where she was "like family".

She leaves behind her mother, Sheila, her sister and her partner, David.

A collection in Kelly's honour at the Globe Inn, where Kelly worked for 14 months, has already raised £400 for a memorial plaque and some of the money will go to a charity that heps people combat depression and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Vivienne Rafferty, owner of the Globe Inn, said they are raising money "so that she is not forgotten".

Julie Hilbeck, who worked with Kelly at the Gazette offices, said: "She was a lovely lass. She'd do anything for you. And how she made me laugh - if I was down she would always cheer me up. She'll be really missed - I'll always miss her."

A funeral service will take place at Kendal Parish Church, on Kirkland, at 2:30pm on Friday, January 9.

It will be followed by a cremation service at Barrow at 4pm.

Her family have requested family flowers only at the service.

Further donations can be made to Aldingham Nursing Home.
