ONE of Bay Search & Rescue’s Hagglund all-terrain vehicles has been temporarily re-homed at Arnside.

The rescue team has three of the Swedish tracked vehicles which have were initially stationed in the team’s base at Flookburgh.

But for nearly two years the team has benefitted from a partnership with Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service and one of the vehicles has been housed at Bolton-le-Sands fire station. Having it based there has shaved more than an hour off response times to coastal incidents around Morecambe, Carnforth and Arnside.

As Bolton-le-Sands has recently received a new fire engine the space at the station has temporarily become unavailable and the rescue vehicle has become homeless at a time when it is most needed.

But the owners of New Barns Caravan Park have stepped in to rescue the rescuers, offering BaySAR space and shelter to park a Hagglund in Arnside - preserving response times to the area.

A second of the team’s Hagglund has been moved from Flookburgh to Levens, while the third remains at Flookburgh covering the west of Morecambe Bay.
