FORECASTERS have issued warnings for strong winds across Cumbria - forcing the cancellation of a seaside town's christmas tree lights switch-on.
This morning the Met Office said gusts of up to 50mph could be hitting the county until 8pm tonight.
Heavy rain and winds caused the tide to come over at Sandside this morning while waves came close to Arnside Coastguard's station.
Where's the footpath? Waves actually braking over the CG station. Very unusual. Tide came flying in today. pic.twitter.com/FteRnNErdn

A seperate warning for Sunday, running from 7am to 8pm, has also been issued.
Tomorrow's forecast has forced organisers of Arnside's christmas tree lights switch-on to cancel the event.
We have decided to CANCEL the tree switch for Sunday as for cast is for very high winds......may try later in December
