A MOTORIST found to be over the drink drive limit on his way home from a pub after watching an international football match has been banned from getting behind the wheel.
Wayne Johnston, 41, of Morecambe Bank, Grange-over-Sands, was on his way home from the Lindale Inn where he had seen England's 1-0 win over Portugal on June 2. He pleaded guilty to driving while over the alcohol limit.
When breathalysed, he was found to have 55 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.
Peter Kelly, prosecuting, said Johnston had been pulled over by police because of a defective rear light.
Johnston was given a 15-month driving ban, a fine of £500, and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £50
