St John’s Hospice North Lancashire and South Lakes have been shortlisted in the prestigious National Patient Safety Awards.

The nomination is for Board leadership and the Hospice is the only third sector organisation in the country to be nominated in this category.

Judging took place in London last month, shortlisted organisations were chosen for their commitment to improve patient safety in healthcare and the judges were very impressed with the high standard.

Sue McGraw, CEO of St John’s said: “We are delighted that our focus on Board leadership and governance has been recognised.

"There has been so much press coverage about charities not paying enough attention to governance and we believe it is the vital foundation on which a good organisation should run.”

Winners will be announced at the National Patient Safety Congress in Manchester on the 5th July.
