Following the floods at the turn of the year which decimated large areas of Cumbria, the children of one South Lakeland school have rallied together to see how they could help.

Throughout the Spring term at Flookburgh CofE Primary School, the whole school focus was on the Christian value of compassion; emphasised by helping those in trouble on their doorstep.

The children agreed to raise money quickly and easily by undertaking a whole school sponsored walk through the local area.

The walk in March was supported on their adventure by many members of the local community who gave up their time to support their cause.

In total, they managed to raise £727.50.

On Friday, June 24, the school’s donation was gratefully received by Mr. Tony Burbridge of the Cumbria Flood Appeal. Flookburgh CofE Primary School hopes that its contribution will assist those affected by the floods in getting their homes and businesses back to as they wish for them to be.
