A KENDAL woman who was attacked by an out-of-control dog has said she could have been killed during her ordeal.

Hayley Williams, of Sparrowmire Lane, Kendal, was bitten multiple times by an Alsatian last Sunday evening.

After coming home from church on Sunday evening, 42-year-old Ms Williams said she was invited to join her partner in a neighbour's garden.

Once she stepped inside, the dog bit her, forced her to the ground and carried out a continued assault leaving her with puncture wounds and bite marks.

"As I stepped in the garden the dog got up and bit my side. As I fell down it jumped on my back and bit me again," she said.

"I'm just glad it wasn't one of the kids round here, I believe if it had been one of them they could've been killed.

"I thought I was going to die.

"When you feel an animal's teeth sink into your back, it's horrific. One of it's teeth could've sunk into my kidney or my lung and I could've died."

Ms Wilson, who works at Tesco in Kendal, was in A&E until 4.30am on Monday having her wounds cleaned and stitched following the attack.

A Cumbria Police spokesperson said: "Police can confirm that they received a report of a dog having bitten a woman while she was in a garden on Sparrowmire Lane, Kendal, on September 4.

"Inquiries are on-going to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident."

Nobody has been charged in relation to the incident. No arrests had been made as the Gazette went to press.
