While I can understand the point that Kenny Curwen makes (Letters, January 19, 'Spend on NHS - or weapons?'), he fails to appreciate the budgets allocated to both services.
The defence budget is a mere fraction of that of the NHS; HMRC tells me that 18.8 per cent of my taxes goes to the NHS while Defence only gets a mere 5.3 per cent!
The health service is in need of a root and branch investigation into how it spends our money, especially on its over-inflated management.
