A WOMAN was taken to hospital after she slipped and injured her leg on a Lake District fell.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team went to find the woman on Tuesday (September 19) morning.

She had set off from her overnight wild camp at Angletarn Pikes and was intending to go to Beda Fell when she slipped on wet grass and injured her leg.

The team was unable to make any initial contact with the casualty to confirm her location and any injuries.

Due to a growing concern for potential injuries, a coastguard helicopter from Prestwick was scrambled.

The lady was eventually located and treated on the fell by team members before being evacuated to hospital for further treatment.
