This week entrepreneur Elon Musk successfully launched his new rocket from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The Falcon Heavy is designed to deliver massive payloads to low-Earth orbit.

More and more private money is now being poured into space programmes.

Meanwhile it is now nearly 50 years since the first men – Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin – first walked on the Moon.

NASA continues to send robotic equipment to Mars to find out more about the red planet and whether it might be home to past or present microbial life.

And speculation continues as to whether men might return to the Moon – or be one day sent to explore Mars.

Such projects are hugely expensive. Do you think public money should be spent sending humans back to the Moon and to Mars? Have your vote above.
