MILNTHORPE livestock transport manufacturer Houghton-Parkhouse has handed over its 1,000th ‘Professional’ four-deck trailer to one of its longest-standing customers.
The firm, founded by John Houghton in 1951, sold the landmark trailer to Scottish livestock hauliers MacTaggart Bros. Shortly afterwards, the Castle Douglas-based company also took delivery of the 1,001st trailer produced at the Houghton-Parkhouse factory.
The award-winning trailer type has proved enduringly popular with both professional livestock hauliers and the wider farming community, with one of its key selling points a life span averaging at least 20 years.
MacTaggart Bros director Andrew MacTaggart said the Houghton-Parkhouse trailers were ‘crucial’ to help his firm meet customer and animal welfare expectations.
“Professional Four Deckers not only look the part, they do the job better than any other in the market place,” said Mr MacTaggart.
