A KENDAL businessman has created what looks certain to become the next big thing in ‘glamping’, or glamorous camping.

Hamish Foulerton has devised the ‘Go Yurt’ which incorporates the high-quality comforts of a yurt with the portability of a trailer tent.

Yurts are usually static and not taken off-site, whereas trailer tents are movable but can be cram-ped or short on luxuries.

And that’s the USP of Mr Foulerton’s new idea, which is a world away from his day job as a landscape gardener and tree surgeon.

His slimline Go Yurt opens into a fully-equipped yurt with all the high-end touches people expect.

Sleeping up to eight, it can be hooked up to a car and then taken on the road, or utilised as a pop-up cafe, hospitality tent, or mobile therapy room at events.

Hamish, 36, and his wife Michelle, 33, a florist, have travelled aross Europe and India and saw how yurts were great to stay in but not great for those with a wanderlust.

It was in Mongolia that he decided to develop the concept for people, rather than making them en-masse to be sold to campsites.

He said: “The whole point about camping is that you have the freedom to go where you want and this is an ideal solution.

“Yurts provide stable and well-insulated camping but until now they have only been available in-situ on certain sites. Whether you enjoy getting back-to-basics, or full-on glamping, our trailer-based folding yurt tents offer the perfect blend of personal and portable.”

He is now taking orders for bespoke versions to customers’ specifications.

What’s more the couple’s children Georgia, eight, and Frankie, three, love it too after testing it out.
