AN organisation which provides a strategic lead for all activities contributing to the growth of Cumbria's economy has appointed a new director.
Graham Haywood, a former chief executive at Sefton Council and North Tyneside Council, has been announced as the man to drive forward the Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership's economic plan, which aims to create 15,000 jobs by 2024.
"This is an exciting time for Cumbria with major investment planned by companies such as BAE Systems, GSK and Nugen, as well as the funding the LEP has secured to invest in improving infrastructure, skills, business support and sustainability," he said.
“I am looking forward to talking to people in the business community and other organisations in Cumbria about the priorities for the county, to ensure we can make the most of the tremendous opportunity this investment presents.”
