The Daffodil Hotel & Spa won the Best Tourism and Leisure Campaign category at the Northern Marketing Awards in Manchester.

The award recognised the hotel's relaunch campaign around its reopening earlier this summer after being forced to close for seven months at the hands of Storm Desmond.

The three-strong marketing team, led by head of marketing and sales, Laura Wolstenholme, created a plan to include a full rebrand of the hotel, a new website, and a ‘Daffodil at Home’ campaign - giving people the chance to receive a box of luxury Daffodil goodies to enjoy at home whilst the hotel was closed.

Collecting the award, Laura said: “I know people say it but we really didn’t expect to win at all as we were up against some strong competition and bigger-budget campaigns from the likes of Manchester Airport and Marketing Liverpool.

“It’s not only brilliant recognition for The Daffodil and everyone’s hard work to get the hotel back to its best again, it’s also great for Cumbria and shows that we can definitely compete creatively with the big brands of Manchester and Liverpool."
