Fellinis was judged to be the best vegetarian restaurant in Cumbria, and also took the Excellence Award for dinner entertainment in the 2017 Restaurant and Bar awards.

And Zeffirellis was crowned Best Hospitality and Entertainment Group in the north, along with the Lake District Hospitality Venture of the Year, in the 2017 Business Excellence Awards.

These are organised by AI Global Media which publishes a monthly magazine that seeks to inform, entertain, influence, and shape the “global corporate conversation” through a combination of high quality editorial, rigorous research and a worldwide network of advisors, experts and contributors.

The annual awards highlight the “amazing work done by those firms and individuals whose ceaseless dedication to innovation, customer care and the continued growth and improvement of their businesses has seen them forge ahead of their competitors and raise the bar for performance and results in their industry”.

Dorothy Smith, managing director of Zeffirellis and Fellinis, said: “We are delighted to accept these awards which are based on judging by industry experts, but also by our customers who continue to appreciate what we are doing.”

Zeffirellis is a finalist in the Cumbria Family Business Awards, to be decided next month.

The company is marking 37 years in business, with five cinema screens across three sites, two restaurants, a café, jazz bar, and vegetarian guest house in Ambleside, along with the luxury vegetarian bed and breakfast and self-catering accommodation at Yewfield, between Ambleside and Hawkshead.
